Hi! I’m Kyle Hornby and I am the Owner and Dentist at Enamel Republic. I want to use this small space on our webpage to tell you a little bit about myself and about how I'm unique as a Family Dentist in Kitchener-Waterloo.
I trained to become a Family Dentist at the University of Western Ontario. While studying there, I was fortunate to have had mentors who encouraged me to focus on people and not just on teeth. They taught me the importance of listening to people, building friendships with them, and being gentle and caring. After graduating, I moved to town and have been practicing Dentistry in Kitchener for the past decade.
My wife and I have 3 wonderful children and we are extremely proud to call Kitchener-Waterloo our home.
As the Owner of Enamel Republic, a fixture in downtown Kitchener for over 40 years, I have the wonderful opportunity to shape how we deliver dental care to our patients. As a Family Dentist, I have the honour of building long-lasting relationships with many wonderful local families. Overall, we use a few fundamental ideas to build a model of dental care and community contribution that our patients find truly refreshing.
Communicating on a first-name basis is the only way to go!
At our office, we’re not into formal titles, we’re into level playing fields. I encourage all of my patients to call me by my first name. Doing so helps to put people at ease and diminish their anxiety. It helps to remove barriers to healthy and productive communication.
When a person has to call someone Doctor, that person tends to be less relaxed, they will ask fewer questions, and they will be less likely to advocate for themselves.
So let’s aim for something far better than that.
Let’s truly raise the bar on how dental care is provided.
Patients deserve transparency.
One of the most rewarding things about my job is providing patients with transparency in dental care. My goal is for you to learn fully about options available to you and to provide you with support during your decision making process.
I use lots of intra-oral pictures to demystify what is going on in the mouth. When we provide visuals to supplement treatment discussions, our patients come out knowing more and feeling better.
We want you to play a role in your own dental care and and, rest assured, we'll always be there to support you!
Giving back really makes a difference.
Many of our patients have been visiting our Dental Office in Kitchener for over 30 years. It only seems right that we make it a priority to support the community that has supported us for such a long time.
Through our “Go Girls!” Program we support initiatives that emphasize the importance of young girls pursuing their goals and receiving opportunities in all fields.
We donate annually to the Women in Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (WiSTEM) initiative at the University of Waterloo.
We also run an annual “Dentistry for a Cause” day where we donate all proceeds from a day of Dentistry to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
